Treatment Plans
Pain Treatments

It is our mission to help our patients reduce their pain and better manage it. It is critical for our patients not to be limited by their condition in order to live fully. Many individuals are limited with their daily activity and unable to fully enjoy their lives. Based on your individual needs and goals, your provider will establish a treatment plan that may include (or be combined):

Medication Assisted Therapy

A pain specialist will be able to determine the appropriate medication regimen that will safely provide the chronic pain patient with effective relief. The specialist will take a comprehensive assessment of your pain and you current prescriptions and any underlying health conditions and develop a medication treatment plan. We have treatment locations in MD, PA, and VA.

Spinal cord stimulator

Spinal Cord Stimulation is an excellent modality to treat chronic neuropathic (nerve-related) pain which has not responded to alternative treatment options which include medications, physical therapy, chiropractic therapy, injection therapy, and/ or surgery. The spinal cord stimulator blocks pain transmission to the brain and replaces it with a parasthesia (tingling sensation). The stimulator is initially placed on a trial basis for 5 days and if the patient responds well during the trial then the permanent device will be implanted.

Non-Invasive injection therapy

Injection therapy is a minimally invasive treatment used to treat acute and chronic pain. A non-surgical treatment, many patients successfully experience relief from their  pain symptoms.

Vertiflex Treatment

The Vertiflex treatment device is a progressive innovation used to treat lumbar spinal stenosis. Requiring a minimally invasive procedure, the Vertiflex implant restores the space between the vertebrae, lifting pressure from the compressed nerves in the spinal canal.

Back Pain

Back pain can make it difficult to perform daily functions. The pain can affect bending, twisting, lifting, walking, standing, sitting and sleeping. Most back pain is acute (short-term), lasting a few days to a few weeks. Home remedies, such as resting, ice and heat, and over-the-counter medications can help. Chronic back pain is defined as pain that lasts for 12 weeks or more, even after the underlying cause or injury has been treated.

Primary Care

At Gemini Health we strongly believe that addressing integrative specialty care services and related conditions provide the foundation for better health. Providing medical care for the physical body may also improve mental and behavioral health outcomes. We have board certified trained medical professionals in multiple specialties available to provide care on site.

Neck Pain

Acute (short-term) neck pain is very common. It can happen as the result of tense muscles, sitting in front of a computer for many hours, or sleeping in an awkward position. Chronic (long-term) neck pain is neck pain that lasts for 12 weeks or more. It usually occurs as the result of a combination of factors: muscular strain, poor posture, and disc-related conditions.

Behavioral and Mental Health

We provide clients with an initial mental health assessment and recommendations for different therapy approaches. Our therapists work with our clients directly to establish a Person-Centered plan, based on the client’s needs and goals. We help clients establish coping strategies for anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, and other mental and emotional struggles.

Failed Back / Neck Surgery

Spine surgery is performed to eliminate chronic back and/or extremity pain. In some cases the level of pain doesn't improve post-surgery, or even worsens. There are many reasons that a surgery may be unsuccessful. Factors that can contribute to failed spine surgery include smoking, uncontrolled diabetes, and non-adherence to the post-surgical rehabilitation plan, but every patient's situation is different.

Cancer Related Pain

Millions of Americans today have a history of cancer, and for most of these individuals, living with cancer is the biggest challenge they have ever faced. One challenge from cancer can be pain. Not everyone with cancer will experience pain, but nearly 1 out of 3 people undergoing cancer treatment will experience pain at some point. That being said, cancer pain can be managed with medicine and other treatments.

MS Related Pain

"MS these pains can be experienced on a daily or nearly daily basis and often it is unpredictable when they will occur. If you have experienced an acute neuropathic pain before it’s possible for it to become a chronic neuropathic pain. There are things that can increase the likelihood for you to experience these pains, like increased stress, fatigue, illnesses, and being overheated. Most often those pain sensations will often settle down once you remove the trigger for them."

Sciatica Pain

Sciatica is caused by injury to, or pressure on, the sciatic nerve. The sciatic nerve starts in the lower spine and runs down the back of each leg. This nerve controls the muscles of the back of the knee and lower leg and provides sensation to the back of the thigh, part of the lower leg, and the sole of the foot. Sciatica is a symptom of another medical problem, not a medical condition on its own.

Sports Related Injuries

Maximizing your recovery right after a run (or any strenuous workout) is essentially to maintaining fitness. Be sure to hydrate, of course, but you might also want to spend some time in our infrared sauna to help reduce muscle inflammation, joint pain, and other effects of summertime running. Schedule an appointment with one of our sports medicine specialists, who can help you ensure you get the most out of your runs while reducing the risk of injury.
